Birds are not your regular pests, their protected classification means interfering with nesting birds is highly restricted. However, there are methods to deter their return and prevent perching when necessary.

Pigeons have become one of the predominant nuisance birds in Ireland (although if you live certain areas it may be seagulls). Their perching leads to the build up vast amounts of unsightly and dangerous waste, which blights an area. Pigeon spiking is a quick and easy solution which can stop the problem quickly and effectively.

Risks Associated with pigeons/seagulls:

Birds nests and waste are not only unsightly, they can potentially harbour Ornithosis, E.coli and salmonella. Their nesting can cause property damage, dislodge rooftiles, create falling debris, and their presence can attract other pests, insects and parasites.

How to get rid of/prevent pigeons and seagulls:

Early intervention is always key. The type of prevention or treatment is situational dependent and may involve removing their ability to perch through bird spiking, their ability to enter buildings through meshing or netting, or cutting their food source of by means of improved waste management strategies. Starlings:

Starlings should not be interfered with when nesting, whether in your home or not. However, they are seasonal, once they have left the nest you are allowed to implement prevention methods to deter their return. In such instances prevention and deterrent methods can be utilised to prevent their return.
